We are Sharon and Bruce Nyenhuis, owners of Bentley Gardens. We are fortunate to design and build gardens in one of the best gardening areas in the country — Northwest Washington State. Located in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains on the Olympic Peninsula, the climate here in Zone 8 is perfect for gardening. We mainly work between Port Townsend and Port Angeles, however we can design your garden anywhere you live.

Sharon attended the horticulture program at Edmonds Community College and is our landscape and garden designer. She enjoys working together with clients to develop gardens that are appropriate to the site and at the same time fulfills their dreams. With her knowledge of plants that grow well in this area, she can design and plant a garden for you that will be appropriate to your site and interesting throughout the year.

During the winter months Sharon teaches plant identification and garden design through Peninsula College. She also teaches seminars at various locations across the peninsula. See our “Classes and Seminars” page for schedule.

Bruce installs landscapes, hardscapes, gardens, and garden features. He came to the world of garden building after working as a goldsmith for many years. Now, after 15 years of working with landscapes, the meticulous exactitudes of making fine jewelry shine forth in his hardscape work including paths, patios, rock walls, and garden beds. Attention to detail in our planting and hardscapes is our signature.
